Hardware Design
Designed to make the most out of Intel’s Core processors, the MPG Z790 CARBON WIFI II features an 8-layer PCB constructed from 2 oz thickened copper internals, two reliable 8-pin CPU power connectors, PCIe Steel Armor slots, Digital PWM, and 19+1+1 power layout to ensure electrical throughput suitable for handling high-powered components. Load-line calibration and overvoltage protection are also built into the motherboard, offering additional layers of electrical reliability.
Cooling Capabilities
To properly maintain thermal performance across your entire system, the MPG Z790 CARBON WIFI II utilizes an extended MOSFET, VRM, PCH heat sinks, and direct-touch heat pipes to efficiently dissipate heat. A double-sided M.2 Shield Frozr thermal solution is designed to keep your M.2 storage drives safe, prolonging the lifespan of your files and installed systems. The MPG Z790 CARBON WIFI II supports All-in-One (AiO) water cooling radiators for internal system and CPU cooling. Fan headers detect fans running in DC or PWM modes and optimize their performance to maintain silent operation without compromising performance. Additionally, you can manually adjust fan performance through the BIOS or use MSI’s AI ENGINE to automatically detect CPU and GPU temperatures and react properly.
Performance Features
MSI PCI Express Steel Armor slots are secured to the motherboard with extra solder points to support the weight of heavy graphics cards. Leverage Lightning Gen 5 for M.2 storage drives, giving you up to 128 Gb/s transfer speeds, suitable for work programs and games. Memory slots utilize a dedicated SMT welding process with MSI Memory Boost technology to deliver enhanced multitasking performance. Resizable BAR (Re-Size BAR) is an advanced PCI Express feature that enables the CPU to access the entire GPU frame buffer at once and improve performance. Secure boot is a security standard to make sure that a device boots using only software that is trusted. When the PC starts, the firmware checks the signature of each piece of boot software, including UEFI firmware drivers, EFI applications, and the operating system. The PC boots while the signatures are valid.
Connectivity
The MPG Z790 CARBON WIFI II offers an array of ports, giving you enhanced file migration with USB 3.2 Gen 1 and Gen 2 Type-A and Type-C ports, delivering data transfer speeds up to 5 and 10 Gb/s. The Lightning USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 Type-C port offers data transfer speeds up to 20 Gb/s as well as DisplayPort video-out and Power Delivery, allowing you to use resource-demanding devices like storage arrays and displays.
Software Enhanced
Adjust various settings within the BIOS with a suite of MSI software utilities including Mystic Light, True Color, User Scenario, Hardware Monitoring, Profile Sharing, Fan Center, and System Diagnosis. AIDA64 Extreme is an application for system information, diagnostics, and benchmarks. With the application, you can monitor the detailed hardware and software information on a PC and save it to file in multiple formats such as CSV and HTML.
Audio Boost 5
Audio Boost 5 utilizes a high-definition ALC4080 Audio Processor to provide immersive audio whether you are working on a project, enjoying your favorite streaming media, or even playing some games. High quality audio capacitors and jacks with S/PDIF ensure optimal sound to your speakers. A dedicated headphone amplifier enhances private listening with De-Pop Protection which prevents the loud peaking sound when plugging in and removing your headset from the audio jack. Layers of the PCB contain their own audio channel to prevent crosstalk between paths for better, more full sound that reduces static and other abnormalities.
RGB Lighting
